RIYADH: A Saudi citizen injured in the New Zealand terrorist attacks on two Christchurch mosques on Friday is expected to leave hospital on Sunday.
Staff from ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ’s embassy visited Aseel Al-Ansari in hospital after he was operated on.
The embassy reported that he was in a stable condition.
¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ’s Minister of Labor and Social Development Ahmed bin Suleiman Al-Rajhi checked up on Al-Ansari. He also called Al-Ansari’s mother Fatima Al-Ansari, an employee in the Makkah region, and granted her leave from work to accompany her son and check up on his health.
At least 49 people, including children, were killed, and 50 others critically injured when a gunman opened fire on Masjid Al-Noor mosque and Linwood mosque in Christchurch.
Police detained three men and a woman, and later charged one man with murder.
One of the four detained after the mass shootings is Australian.
